Elon Musk and NASA aren’t the only ones with their sites set on space colonies and bases for human habitat.
The question remains as to what the nations are preparing for in the future that would require so much off world activity.
Despite tensions on the ground, Russia shares the ISS with the United States.

A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia’s state-run rocket company will enter the space race among private companies.
The Russian space company Roscosmos will likely join the heated space race among U.S. companies, like SpaceX and Blue Origin, which are using reusable rockets to launch satellites into orbit.
Putin is confident Russia will be able to compete with Musk’s Space X.
